Terry Welker, FAIA, is an architect/sculptor living in Kettering, Ohio. He
began his formal education in fine art but later moved toward architecture.
He received his Master of Architecture at the University of Cincinnati in
1987 and continued teaching design at UC. and worked at several
architectural firms in Dayton. In 1994 he opened his own firm and created
the Archetype Gallery showing Ohio artists.
In 2000, Terry launched the Welker Studio and began 22 years of public
service as the City Architect for the City of Kettering. In 2016 he was
elevated to the AIA College of Fellows and received the AIA Ohio Gold
Medal in 2023.
Today Terry creates permanent and temporary public art/commissioned
works as a sculptor in the Welker Studio. He is also a Visiting Professor of
Architecture & Interior Design at Miami University, Oxford, OH.
