In early 2023 it was revealed that the Walker County Jail in Jasper, Alabama attempted to cover up the abuse and death of an inmate in their custody. The inmate, Anthony Mitchell, was forced to endure horrific conditions at the jail and was repeatedly denied medical treatment.
In part 2 of our coverage of this case, we talk about the hours before Anthony Mitchell’s death and the inaction from the staff at the Walker County Jail, the correctional officer who brought this story to a national stage, and how Anthony Mitchell’s death is just one example of a larger problem in this country.
