There is big news coming out of the FDA. Red dye #3 will soon be banned for use in food products in the US. We discussed how this will affect the future of processed food. We also talked a bit about how the FDA and food makers handle the approval process for new additives in our food. Lastly, we discussed some of the changes RFK plans to bring to the Department of Health and Human Services and his role in the incoming Trump presidency. The banning of red dye #3 is a great first step but there is still much to be done to make our food better.
One thing we forgot to mention during the episode is our love of Aldi. One of the reasons we feel better shopping there is they stopped using synthetic dyes back in 2015. So, while it's great that all companies will now have to comply, Aldi has been doing it for a long time.
