Greetings, Summit Leaders.

Following a long session of work and navigating new pathways in life and career, everyone needs an intentional time to renew the body, mind, and spirit.

Life and career happen rapidly, and great leaders understand the importance of rest.

As we read accounts of great leaders following significant work and battles won, they insisted on resting. They recognized that doing good work is essential but understood to do it effectively rest and renewal are needed.
"Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." A caring leader’s words to his followers.

Why is rest so vital, and how can we enter into proper rest for the body and mind?

There are four actions and four benefits.
1. Remember: Taking time out to remember allows us to relish the journey, the challenges overcome, and accomplishments.
2. Reflect: Time spent thinking about events and steps to victory are invaluable because they produce insight. Great leaders take time to reflect on their actions and assess the critical steps along the way. These insights make leaders more prepared to face future challenges.
3. Review: Great leaders focus on the campaign of conquest. They not only have a vision of where they are going and leading others, but also a keen awareness of where they have come. It is helpful to recall our beginnings and what we endured to appreciate where we are today. Think back on your life and career journey. Think about what you have overcome these past months and years. You have something to celebrate, my friend. Usually, an attitude of gratitude arises in the heart during the process.
4. Resolve: Neuroscience shows that a peaceful state of remembering and celebrating past victories create chemicals in the body that calm our nerves and restore our vitality. Following the period of resting and waiting, we gain new strength to run if needed and not get weary or walk on the journey and not faint. We can keep the pace required and go greater distances than we thought possible.
"Rest when you're weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work." Ralph Marston
" True silence is the rest of the mind, and is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment, and refreshment." — William Penn

Waiting and resting are refreshing for the soul of a leader. We gain confidence that we can victoriously overcome what is ahead of us. Our minds are free to soar on wings like eagles. We have fresh perspectives and clear thinking.

I recently read about a group of leaders who overcame considerable opposition and achieved tremendous results. The leader of leaders gave these instructions.

“Celebrate! Be joyous and send gifts to others and rejoice in your accomplishments.”
A celebration is not only for the leader but also for encouraging others.

Often when we celebrate and give to others, such as family, colleagues, and friends or people in the community, we are strengthened and filled with joy. We reap what we sow, more than we sow, later than we sow. It is more blessed to give than receive.

Take the time to schedule your celebration.
Remembering your accomplishments creates a sense of gratitude. In the process, we gain the resolve to pursue victory in the months ahead of us!

The best is yet to come, and the biggest is yet to be.

Rest for a while. Then return to your work.

A time of refreshing renews, restores, and revitalizes us.

Victory!
