"Advancing in Uncertain Times!"
Greetings, Summit Leaders.
"The best is yet to come!."
A wise leader shared his optimism for the future that encouraged me to look to the future with confidence.
Great leaders from ancient times until now inspire us to look forward with optimism regardless of the circumstances.
I think of Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Great Britain during WWII.
His leadership, optimism, courage, conviction, and faith rallied his nation and other nations—the outcome; victory!
Be encouraged because greater things are still to come for you as a leader.
We are required to do our part. Here are three actions great leaders employ in advancing in uncertain times.
The three-fold strategy includes these three words. Mindfulness, Rehearse, and Focus.
1. Mindfulness. Great leaders use their minds to envision outcomes. Their attitude of optimism and courage lifts those around them. During the war, Winston Churchill made time to speak of hope for the future with a group of grade school students as well as the nation. Begin each day with an attitude of thanksgiving by calling to mind the faithful acts along your pathway this far. Take time to review and see the accomplishments and breakthrough events on your journey. You will discover a pattern that affirms your perseverance and faith. "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease." These words encourage us to think of the possibilities as you work through this time to testing. One writer described it this way. "When they walk through the Valley of Weeping, it will become a place of refreshing springs. The autumn rains will clothe it with blessings." These leaders will continue to grow stronger and stronger until they reach their destination.
2. Rehearse the disciplines. Each leader understands the importance of training. They are committed and disciplined all the time. "Train like there is no tomorrow." is their attitude because they believe tomorrow is coming, and they are preparing. Sometimes, all of us move off our pathway and take our eyes off our visions. I recall one Summit Leader saying, "I needed to change some things." We instinctively understand when we are off our disciplines and what's required. One great leader summarizes it in the statement, "In returning and rest, is deliverance and in quietness and trust shall be your strength." She refocuses her mind and begins again.
3. Focus and faith. In ancient times, sailors relied on the winds to move their vessels around the globe. They knew the importance of hope that the wind will blow. Their faith moved them to action in setting their sails designed to receive and redirect the wind in preparation for the fresh winds on the way. Great leaders think this way and inspire others to continue preparing even in the absence of evidence. They know where they are going. They never stop thinking about their vision. The prudent know where they are going. "One ship sails East, And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow, 'Tis the set of the sails And not the gales, That tells the way we go. Ella Wheeler Wilcox
"We believe like the great leaders before us that the best is yet to come. The winds will blow again. Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you a Word of encouragement. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their perseverance, focus, and faith.
The winds will blow again.
We are preparing and listening to the sound of a mighty wind!
Victory!
