Greetings, Summit Leaders.
Summit Leaders are some of the most focused, dedicated, and disciplined people I have met. They have a vision for their future and are taking action now, preparing for great things ahead.
They believe that they are here for such a time as this.
I hear the Summit Leaders sharing how they are preparing for future assignments with enthusiasm and expectation.
They are doing it together! In the process, they are multiplying their effectiveness while building essential skills for the future. Iron sharpens iron as one friend sharpens another.
Today, one Summit Leader shared his excitement about a future assignment. I am impressed with his wise and prudent choices to make the most of the opportunity now. He is expecting, anticipating, and preparing for a great future.
Even though COVID - 19 affects how they train, their attitude is still looking forward with hope.
While they wait for their vision's appointed time, they continue training.
"Regardless of the outcome, I will continue practicing personal excellence every day." writes one Summit Leader during our conversation today.
This leader is thinking, building, and honing the skills he will need in the future.
Someone wisely said, "Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That's the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed."
The outcome of a focused, dedicated, and disciplined life is an expanded capacity to serve and influence others.
"Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will stand in the presence of kings. He will not stand in the presence of the unknown."
Great leaders expect, anticipate, and prepare for their future and those they serve.
During the Great Depression, many Americans struggled with the prospect of the future. Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) led the nation forward with his "New Deal" vision for America and its future leaders.
"The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith."
FDR, April 13, 1945
FDR believed and wisely took action.
"We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future."
— Franklin Roosevelt, American President [1936-1945]
Here are some steps Summit Leaders are taking now.
1. If they lack skills, they are sharpening them through training and practice.
2. Like sharpening the ax, through coaching and feedback, they recognize where weakness exists and then acquire the skills to do the job better.
3. They holistically look at their lives to pinpoint where the "ax" is dull and sharpen their skills to be more effective in their future assignments.
"No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined. One of the widest gaps in human experience is the gap between what we say we want to be and our willingness to discipline ourselves to get there."
Harry Emerson Fosdick
Be encouraged, my friends!
Please keep doing what it takes for greatness.
Victory!
