The opportunity of a lifetime is in front of you. Indeed, you are here for such a time as this!
What must we do to ensure we are in step and taking the actions required to change the course of a life, a business, a nation, and shape history?
There are three distinct steps and one essential life and career principle we need to follow.
First, understand the nature of the battle. We are struggling every day choosing to do right and growing or being complacent and not embracing our appointed time to make an impact. Great leaders see and believe that they must act in the challenge facing those they lead and their responsibilities. They have conviction. They know that they must take action.
Our enemy, to doing right, is fear. We often know what is right but do not act because of feelings of inadequacy, not wanting to get involved and being lazy.
Seven years ago, I was facing a lifetime opportunity to grow as a leader and make a positive impact on many lives. I felt inadequate and fearful of the challenges I faced.
One morning, during my quiet time of mediation on quotes affecting leadership, insight flashed in my mind like lightning. I would either step out in faith or forever wonder what I could have done if I held to the conviction that I am here for such a time as this.
This is my time to lead. The focus of faith frees us from fear. I stepped out in faith, believing that everything I needed would come when I committed to taking the first step. Now, faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
The principle I learned that year is that when we take the first step of faith, all the power we need is available before our foot touches the ground! Commitment always precedes empowerment! A clean heart and a steadfast spirit create the right motivation for doing right.
Once we experience the empowerment of the first step, our courage begins to grow, and we start a transformation process to becoming a great leader.
An awakening occurs in our hearts! Our thinking about doing right becomes a guiding truth in our hearts.
Our empowerment to act on what we know is right comes into our thinking. We are no longer conforming to old thought patterns.
We are transforming through our thinking. We take action needed to correct the situation.
What leadership challenge are you facing or seeing right now?
Is it COVID 19, racial injustice, or something else?
First, have the conviction that you are the leader and faith that you can do what is right.
Secondly, take courage in the truth that all the power you need is available for each step you take in doing what is right. Be bold and lionhearted.
Thirdly, be confident that your actions will make an impact, and lives will be changed.
Exercise your leadership position and power. You will become more influential and more impactful as a leader.
When you give to others in need of what only you can provide, you ignite a process of rewards that great leaders began experiencing centuries ago.
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Take courage, my friend, and act now.
You know what is needed! If there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Envision the impact you can make now as a leader.
