Greetings, Summit Leaders.

The capacity to enjoy the process of your life and career journey is a gift.

The great leaders discover early in life that the moment is more important than a distant dream.
Someone once asked this question,
"What is most fulfilling and satisfying for you now that you reached this position of influence and acclaim, the journey or the destination?

The person thought for a moment and said, "The journey!" with a big smile.

All of us can remember lamenting our age, limiting our ability to enjoy life. "I can't wait until I am old enough to..."

The secret of many great leaders is their ability to live in the moment. They can focus on their surroundings, emotions, and get the most out of their time now.

This perspective enables them to enjoy what they have while working for something they envision. They have the right mindset regarding their current lot and are happy in their work.

Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, was a model for living in the moment.

Each day mattered, and every conversation was meaningful. He was an encourager.
"Behave as a servant leader." Sam Walton

Sam is known for his entrepreneurial, pioneering, and visionary spirit.

He modeled the importance of enjoying the process of the journey.

Sam was passionate about being present and being enthusiastic.
"Pretty soon, everybody will catch the passion from you – like a fever."
Sam Walton

Enjoy the process.

Someone once said, "He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because he keeps occupied with gladness of heart."

In a moment of reflection, Mr. Walton responds to a question: "How do you want to be regarded?"

"I would just like to be regarded as a good friend to most everyone whose life I've touched—as their friend, as someone who has maybe meant something to them and has helped them in some way.

That, I guess, is important. I have such a strong feeling for the folks in our company; they have meant so much to me.

I know they respect me. They have affection for me. I appreciate that, and I don't know that I deserve it. I don't think that I really deserve it, but it's a tremendous feeling to know that you have that relationship with people throughout the company.”
Sam Walton

President George Bush presented Sam Walton with the highest honor a U.S. president can bestow upon a U.S. civilian: the Presidential Medal of Freedom, for his concern for his employees, community, and entrepreneurial spirit.

We can emulate the character qualities found in great leaders.

As we go on our life and career journey, remember; Enjoy the Process.

Get the most out of every day. Make it count!

To become a fulfilled leader, consider these five steps.

1. Faithfully serve where you are.
2. Be courageous when facing trials. See them as opportunities.
3. Be long-term committed. Life is not a sprint.
4. Be ready to pay the price to become a leader like Sam Walton.
5. Please write it down. Moments of deep appreciation can be forgotten.

Let's make it our goal to enjoy the process.

The journey will be the best part of our destination.

Victory!
