John Wooden is considered by many to be one of the best coaches. From 1964-to 1975, John Wooden led UCLA to nine national championships, including seven straight and three undefeated seasons (1966-67, 1971-72, 1972-73).
"Much can be accomplished by teamwork when no one is concerned about who gets the credit. The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team. A player who makes the team great is better than a great player. The best way to improve the team is to improve yourself." John Wooden
I once heard a great leader say, "Look your best. Do your best. Be your best."
This week, I am blessed to work with Cohort 10, an IBM New Seller Leaders group. As we travel together on their first weeks in IBM, it's incredible to see the teamwork and spirit of cooperation within them.
They recognize that they are not here by accident. The New Seller Leaders decided to be here and eagerly prepare for their opportunity.
I love their enthusiasm and conviction that they can make an impact.
Great teams are more than just a group of personalities; but a group of talented and gifted individuals who decide to be their best for the team's good. The team spirit is what I sense throughout a winning organization. How can two walk together unless they agree?
The alignment of vision and purpose creates a multiplier effect. We are excited and focused on the opportunity ahead.
Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that they may run that read it. Great teams and leaders have a dream. Even though there may be delays and challenges, keep moving forward in faith. Patience, Perseverance, and Practice are invaluable on the journey of life and career. Knowing you are surrounded by caring and gifted people creates confidence and competence.
Let's create! We believe that we can! Our theme is "The Launching!" into the deep for the great catch and adventure. Collectively, great teams intuitively understand that their success depends on each other's commitment to "personal excellence" and the spirit of cooperation. One mind, one voice, and one vision!
