Greetings, Leaders.

Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles that one has overcome.

Booker T. Washington.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life manifests five vital qualities great leaders need in being an overcomer.

Many know about his life's purpose, vision, service, courage, and faith.

We see several qualities that may help us do even more outstanding work in our life and career.

What is your dream? Dreams are our ability to envision something and experience the outcomes. They are gifts available to all.

Wherever we are on our life and career journeys, we are encouraged to dream and have a purpose and vision for our lives and creation.

We learn insights for living by observing and reflecting on lives and the impact of great leaders.

Faith:  Faith is seeing the invisible, believing what seems impossible, and acting.

What step of faith should I bring to realize my purpose and vision is question I ask myself.

"Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Are you starting a new career or assignment or working with new clients? Have faith!

Purpose: Dr. King discovered his purpose by serving others, and so can we in our life and career journey. What an empowering discovery when we find our purpose.

"The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." Mark Twain

Vision: What's your dream? It will keep you producing all the days of your life and help you make the best choices on your life and career journey.

"Without vision, people lack discipline." "Without vision, people perish."

"Dream to persist and persist in dreaming."

This day, reflect on your vision, attributes, and actions.

Are they aligned? Think your vision through. Could you write it down? Speak it out!

Service:   Leaders share a passion for serving. Wholeheartedly serving is a distinctive quality for greatness.

"Everybody can be great because everybody can serve." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We reap what we sow, more than and later than we sow. Keep serving your family, company, clients, colleagues, and community.

Courage:  Taking the first step will often require courage. The power of the dream, faith, vision, and purpose combines to attract the "on-time" resources we need to fulfill the dream. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.

"If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps moving; you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today, I still have a dream." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

What actions can we take to overcome fear and walk in victory?

1. Recognize your fear and take action to face it.

2. Challenge it. "The focus of faith frees us from fear."

3. Encourage yourself with self-talk and rehearse the truth of your identity.

4. Embrace being comfortable with being uncomfortable. We are in a battle for our minds.

5. Make the focus on faith and being brave a habit.

6. Guard your thoughts and mind and practice mindfulness.

7. Seek a mentor for life and career.

Let's expect, anticipate, and prepare for this being our best year!

Victory!
