Greetings, Summit Leaders.

Continue your quest for your breakthrough in whatever you are facing.

The best is yet to come!

Breakthrough is possible for all of us. Here are three examples and principles from great leaders throughout history.

Last week I listened to a smiling new Summit of two months describe the feeling of accomplishment following an excellent presentation in a room filled with her colleagues, managers, and coaches.

Just one week before the event, she described herself this way. "I am afraid of public speaking and introverted." Now she is experiencing her breakthrough and growing stronger as she goes forward.

This week, I observed a senior executive in a Fortune 20 company sharing her breakthrough story with a group of newly appointed executives.

"In high school, I was an introvert and afraid of speaking in public. With encouragement from my high school counselor, I took action to overcome my fears."

Now, she is an executive who is poised, engaging, credible, authentic, caring, and encouraging.

Today, I spoke with an executive sales leader and asked him to reflect on the exceptional sales year his team accomplished in 2019.

He said, "It was toward the third week in December when I began sensing something was happening. I believed that it was possible to get closer to our full-year target.

Then it happened! I can't explain it except to say it was like the mighty rushing wind came through! We exceeded our goals for the year. "

He and his team experienced their breakthrough.

What is required to achieve your breakthrough?

A breakthrough is an act of bursting through an obstacle or restriction. It is a significant achievement or success that permits further growth and progress.

Since ancient times, the most significant leaders believed in and experienced the miracle of the breakthrough.

What is the mindset of a breakthrough leader?

1. Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid nor dismayed by the challenge you face together with your team.
2. Lead by personal example and attitude. But as for you, be strong and courageous, for there is a reward ahead of you for your work.
3. Become a brave heart. Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your life flows from it. The legacy of one great leader from long ago. "Asa's heart remained completely faithful throughout his life."

One new cohort of Summit Leaders decided to name their group "The Brave Hearts."

What's in a name? Identity! Here is the thinking.

"We decided to go with "The Brave Hearts" because we wanted it to embody core attributes that were important for our success as a cohort, such as courage, strength, and caring for each other.

To us, it means that as representatives of IBM, we should approach every new challenge and opportunity that comes our way with bravery and with our whole heart!"

This is true of us!

Be hopeful, "brave hearts!" Our pursuit is a moment by moment commitment in every situation, no matter how big or small.

When your breakthrough happens, you will find new strength; you will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; you will walk and run without getting tired.

Wow! Summit Leaders! That's who we are!

Victory!
