Greetings, Summit Leaders.
Be an encourager. You can impact lives through your words.
Great leaders use words wisely and selectively in their conversations with others.
They understand the impact words have on the mental outlook and confidence of those they meet.
"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit."
Great leaders use the tongue to build others up, keep them looking forward and gain their confidence.
How is it possible for us to emulate the great leaders who, through their speech, encourage people and nations?
Can you recall a situation when someone came alongside you on your journey for the sole purpose of lifting your spirits?
Think about the words they used in your conversations together. Sometimes it takes only one word, a kind comment of affirmation to hearten someone who is going through a rough time and gain new strength to keep going forward.
That person connects with us because we sense their heart along with the words they use. Great leaders lead from the heart and mind, and the words from their lips encourage us!
Winston Churchill used words as weapons during the early years of World War II. Britain did not have the military arsenal needed to overcome the enemy challenges facing the nation. His speeches, carried on radio waves across Britain, enemy-occupied Europe, and the world provided hope, courage, and inspiration. He was a stone of help in time of need.
A leader's heart develops with time and testing. He is intentional in his choices and his responses to each challenge on the journey. He understands that out of the heart come the issues of life. From what is in the heart, the mouth speaks.
"I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and for this trial... I thought I knew a good deal about it all, I was sure I should not fail." Winston Churchill, The Second World War
Have you ever spoken words of encouragement to someone who needed a lift in their spirits? How did you feel? That feeling of fulfillment creates enthusiasm for the works that are yours alone to do.
Leaders are intentional and transformed as they think of ways to help others on their journey. A profile of their thinking could say, "They fix their thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right and pure, and lovely, and admirable. They look for and think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
Great leaders are keenly aware of the challenges they are facing. Their perspective is distinctive. They help us see our circumstances differently.
A great king and leader named David understood the importance of his speech and his thinking. He focused on his heart and words in his leadership. "May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be acceptable."
Let's help others view their circumstances with a perspective of hope, endurance, and enthusiasm. Your encouraging leadership is indispensable to you, your family, clients, and those you serve and lead.
That's who you are!
Victory!
