My boss Fred had been superseded by a bombastic toilet paper salesman who made his “regional” office in Nottingham. One of his first and perhaps worst decisions was to inform Fred that he would have no further contact with Fossitt and Thorne senior management.
“The account is much too important for a mere District manager to handle”, he was told quite bluntly.
“Your role will be to have contact with local managers only and your salesmen (yours truly included) will have no contact with the company at all”! Thus came the epistle from on high.
