Freddie RamirezFreddie was raised in the Fresno and Bakersfield areas and started fly fishing at the age of twelve. His grandfather was a big influence in his life and got him fly casting before he knew what fly fishing was all about. Growing up, he camped and fished the Central Sierra and got his teeth wet fishing small creeks. He loved to read books about fly fishing and wondered where this sport would take him. When he was in High School his dad took a job that took him back to Bakersfield. Growing up there, he loved fishing the upper Kern river in the Johnsondale area. He then moved back to the Fresno area to finish school. He has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, a grandson and the love of his life Ann . He can say that fly fishing has always been an obsession of his and so has the art of fly tying. He was a fly fishing guide and guided for 10 years and he still loves sharing his passion of fly fishing. In the last 10 years, he has developed a passion for chasing warm water fish that has now become an addiction. He has been a program leader for Project healing water for 12 yrs and he likes sharing his experience and teaching inner city youth how to fly fish. He has been fortunate enough to fly fish all over the United States, Canada and South America. Now having a grandson that loves to fish and teaching his wife how to fly fish is his next chapter in life. There have been many people that have mentored him in fly fishing and in life and he would like to thank them all. “Please pass it on and become a mentor to our next generation of fly fishing people. Always remember, the tug is the drug! ” - Fred Ramirez Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
