  1. Prospect relationally
  2. Get to know them first: family, background and heart
  3. Learn about their skills, education and current job
  4. Match their gifting to the volunteer role
  5. Don't give them a job that you wouldn't do yourself
  6. Train and give them resources to help
  7. Surround them with more experienced gurus to learn from
  8. Provide support and ongoing benchmarks
  9. Be the kind of ministry- family they would invite friends to
  10. Promote volunteers as they grow and reproduce them as leaders
