Welcome back Pediatric Dietitian, Amy Reed. Amy has more than 18 years’ experience as a pediatric dietitian at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and she is a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Its purpose is to give advice on what Americans should eat and drink to promote health and reduce the risk of chronic disease.  Every 5 years the Academy posts the newest information as “Dietary Guidelines for Americans''. The 2020 -2025 edition marks the first time the Guidelines provide recommendations by life stage, from birth through older adulthood.  The report is available for anyone to read at http://www.DietaryGuidelines.gov

With the addition of recommendations for the youngest children, Amy is excited to talk about the comprehensive report on the state of nutrition science.  Amy helps us dive into the guidelines and tells us how to incorporate modest changes that aid in pushing us closer to nutrient recommendations.  She will show us how people can make food and beverage choices that are rich in nutrition and how those choices become a healthy routine over time.

The science shows that it’s never too late to start and maintain a healthy dietary pattern, which can yield health benefits in the short term and cumulatively over years.
