Description

When I say Direction Not Perfection, I am not saying don’t try. I’m not saying don’t give your absolute best or stop striving to be the best version of yourself. There is a huge difference in the words perfection and excellence. I want excellence in your daily life and the only way we are going to keep up the momentum and confidence to keep striving for that excellence is to not be brought down by the expectation of perfection. Excellence is NOT PERFECTION and Perfection is NOT EXCELLENCE…

Our new pastor at New Life Church in Arkansas talked about excellence this week.

More specifically what “Excellence Is Not”

1. Being privileged – it’s not having the best, it’s about doing the best with what we have

2. Being polished

3. Being Perfect – to this I say amen thank goodness I don’t have to be perfect to be excellent

Excellence is different for everyone. A few examples of great habits of excellence are:

1. Always give more than expected (have you ever heard the phrase under promise and over deliver… I like that one)

2. Always find a solution. It’s easy to complain, much harder to create the solution

3. Always learn from others

4. Always be on time

5. Always be diligent

6. Always be prepared

7. Always be honest

This is where you can write down your own measures of excellence and have a list as a visual reminder of what you are striving for. Everyone has their own measuring stick for success and if you try to compare yourself to someone else’s measuring stick you will always come up short.

We should be striving for excellence within our day for ourselves as well as for those watching, especially our kids. We become strong role models, we get to be a game changer, a difference maker! We can leave this earth knowing we touched and enhanced a future generation!
