I continue to hit the jackpot with my interview guests, this week is with a dear friend and colleague Julie Zolman. Julie is a graphic designer and between my brother-in-law, uncle and Julie… the photography and graphic design of my book “Direction Not Perfection” the cover makes me happy every day! Julie is responsible for the beautiful polished look… Everything Julie touches turns my own version of perfect and unique AND I cannot imagine not having her in my corner to beautify my business and my life!!!
Julie has been a Graphic Designer and Production Artist for 23 years! She works full time as a graphic designer as well as freelancing for several clients with a wide range of projects. Julie has been working from home for several years so she was physically prepared for being quarantined with her husband of twenty-one years and two teenagers. Being mentally prepared is a different story. She has gone through many stages starting with sadness, fear and uncertainty. I could not have been more honored than to hear that Pulling in the things she has learned from Direction Not Perfection” is one of the things that have helped her through these times and given her the strength to not only get through but grow during these new situations.
I’m going to summarize a few things we talked about and have been helping her during this time of uncertainty.
She has written a special prayer on the mirror.
She has a list of positive things to tell herself and one of her go too’s “I am doing my best and it is good enough.
We talked about Having family meals and eating out less.
She and her friends started a “Gratitude Group” and sharing things they are grateful for.
She will have built up some stamina from walking with her buddy and will want to continue walking and trying new exercise endeavors such as yoga.
When the world gets a handle on this virus there will be positive outcomes.
And so much more… this lady is amazing, We wanted to also throw out there that there is a lot of hardship and we are laughing and having fun in the interview BUT we know that life is scary and real right now! We hope you can let your worry ease for a moment and smile with us…. Julie mentions that she sometimes goes over the top trying to be cheerful. There always is good in any situation. Sometimes it takes over the top, fake it till you make it, attitude to get through the day… please enjoy all of her brightness, welcome Julie!!
