Word has reached the newsroom of the passing of Judy Kilbride. Kilbride, along with her late husband Gerry founded the Kilbride Family Foundation, a local not-for-profit. She was retired from the Bourbonnais Elementary School District where she had served as the Director of Student Services. Services have yet to be announced. She was 86 years old

The body found in the Kankakee River back in June of this year has been identified. According to a press release from the Kankakee County Coroner's office, the man's name is being withheld pending full notification of next of kin. The body that was believed to be of a Hispanic man was found on June 13th in the Kankakee River near the 300 Block of North Wall Street behind Riverside Hospital.

A woman who stepped outside her apartment in Kankakee Sunday afternoon was met with the surprise of finding a gun in her backyard. According to police reports, the woman who lives in the 100 block of North Taylor Avenue found the gun just after 3 Sunday afternoon when she leaned over they porch by the back door of her apartment. When officers arrived, they discovered it was a loaded black 9mm handgun with an extended magazine holding numerous live rounds. The woman said she didn't see anyone near her apartment or where the gun was found.
