Summary
God is always with you, as proven in Exodus 33:12-23. Explore Thin Places and feel the omnipresence.
IntroductionWhere do you go to hear the divine whisper? It may be a quiet spot in your home. Some hear it in the silence of an empty Salvation Army hall, or an ancient church or cathedral. Some hear God's voice in nature - by the sea, or walking through a hushed forest.
Moses Wanted to Know That God is Always With YouIn Exodus 33:12-23, we stumble upon a remarkable passage where Moses, God's chosen leader of the Israelites, yearns for a deeper connection with the Almighty. His journey teaches us a profound lesson about the presence of God in our lives, often found in what we call "thin places."
Thin places are moments or locations where the boundary between the sacred and the ordinary becomes blurred. They're like divine whispers, gentle reminders that God is always with us, no matter where we are or what we're going through. Moses experienced one of these thin places when he asked God, "show me your glorious presence" (Exodus 33:18 NLT).
God's response was not to reveal his full glory but to allow Moses to see his back. This was a tantalising glimpse, a thin place encounter, that left Moses transformed and reassured of God's presence. It's a reminder that even in our limited understanding, we can experience God in unique and personal ways.
Thin Places May Come at an Unexpected TimeThin places in our lives may come when we least expect them: a sunset that leaves us in awe, a simple act of kindness that restores our faith, or a moment of clarity in prayer. They serve as a reassurance that God is always right here, walking with us through every step of our journey.
Just like Moses, we can seek God's presence in our lives, knowing that even a glimpse can change us and reassure us of his constant companionship. Keep your heart open, and you'll find thin places that remind you that God is always by your side, ready to walk with you on this incredible journey of faith.
Reflection Question:When was the last time you felt a thin place encounter, a moment when you sensed God's presence in a special way? How can you actively seek and create more of these moments in your daily life to remind yourself that God is always with you?
