It was great to be able to do an episode on training and nutrition around Ramadan and even better that I was joined by the awesome Dalal Hamza who is a health, wellness and weightlifting coach down in Abu Dhabi.
Having lived in the UAE for the past 6.5 years and have been here during the holy month plenty of times but have never fully embraced the experience. Naturally, I get asked questions regarding diet and exercise around this month but never feel 100% confident giving out advice as I have never put myself in that situation. Yes, the basic principles can be applied but it would be nice to give out advice with someone that knows and has done it- practice what you preach mentality.
In this episode, Dalal gives us a brief description of what Ramadan is and some advice on how to structure your training and nutrition to make sure you are still actively working towards your goals. This is often a challenge because of not only the fasting but the family and social aspect to Ramadan.
