Episode 129 of the Common Weal Policy Podcast

This week, Craig talks to Ellen Dalzell about Freedom of Information in Scotland and how the Scottish Government may still be using loopholes in the legislation to limit access to information requested via FOI. Her journey starts with an investigation into whether the Scottish Government had conducted any polling in parallel to the UK Government's own "secret polls" on attitudes towards the Union and uncovers the fact that while the Government is compelled to respond to FOIs, it is not compelled to publish the response to anyone other than the requester, despite maintaining an archive of replies (effectively allowing them to pick and choose what they publish to the wider public).
You can read more about Ellen's FOI requests in particular along with a video of Craig's meeting with the Scottish Parliament on reviewing FOI legislation here.
