In this episode, I explore the new research that was completed on the caloric impact that nuts have when consumed. In order words, this new evidence suggests that nuts don’t provide us with as many calories as we might have previously thought.
If you have counted calories before and happen to eat nuts, then you would know just how much caloric punch these delicious snacks can pack in a small crunchy package. However, could it be that the amount of calories we as humans actually absorb from eating nuts is A LOT less than expected?
Nutrition is so complex and multi-faceted. One example of this is the fact that digestion and absorption of foods aren’t quite as simple as “food goes in, nutrients and calories are absorbed” - not at the fundamental physiological level at least.
Could nuts be less caloric to us because of this?
What are the practical ramifications of this if true?
Or does this need more research to conclude?
