In Matthew chapter 6 and Luke chapter 11, Jesus gave us a model by which we could follow when we pray. "in this manner, pray therefore." Jesus didn't want this prayer to be a "catch all", one we repeat over and over, in place of a meaningful prayer life. Our prayers should be made up of the different parts of the prayer Jesus modeled for us.
