Jesus prayed: "My prayer is...that all of them be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me" (John 17:21-22). THIS was what was on Jesus' heart and mind during the hours before His crucifixion: Unity! The plea for unity - oneness - is repeated many times in the New Testament. In Ephesians 4:3, Paul pleads: "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit." How do we do that? He gives us a sevenfold platform in verses 4-6 - a solid place to begin. Yet, the church has failed miserably in this quest. So, what does the Bible say we can do about it? How can we join our hands as Christ-followers?
