Exodus 20:16 - "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor." This original 9th commandment dealt directly with perjury in a courtroom setting. However, 40 years later, when the commandment was repeated in Deuteronomy 5:20, a broader Hebrew word was used referring to any/all kinds of lying, dishonesty, or deceit.
