Description

Eric Ringel played hockey at the University of Notre Dame in 2008 and 2009 before a concussion forced him to retire from the sport, but he stayed on as a student coach for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.  He talks about growing up in Hinckley, Ohio, how he got into hockey,  and playing in the North American Hockey League while he was in high school. Eric describes the recruiting process, why he chose Notre Dame, and the transition from the NAHL to NCAA Hockey.  He then discusses his 2 seasons playing, the concussion, his long road to recovery, why he had to retire from hockey, and his decision to stay a part of the program as a student coach.  Eric explains his duties as student coach, his opportunity to be more of a normal college student, his move to Aspen, Colorado, after graduation and continuing to coach at the younger levels, and his move back to the Cleveland, Ohio area.
