Jesse Martin played hockey at the University of Denver from 2007-2010, suffered a serious neck injury in a game his senior year, and had a miraculous recovery. He talks about growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, how he got into hockey, and playing in the Junior Leagues. He describes his recruiting process, why he chose Denver, and playing in the United States Hockey League for a year before joining the team. Jesse explains the transition to NCAA Hockey, being able to play early in his career, and the success that the Denver Ice Hockey program has had. Jesse then goes into detail about the injury he suffered on October 30th, 2010, in a game against North Dakota where a brutal hit broke his neck and left him temporarily paralyzed. He explains the surgery he had, how lucky he was he was able to walk a few days later, the national attention his injury had, the long recovery process, and why he couldn't play hockey again. Jesse talks about his life now, over ten years after the accident, and how he is doing.
