Kyla Irwin played basketball at the University of Connecticut from 2016-2020 where she was a part of 3 Final Fours and went undefeated in the American Athletic Conference. Kyla talks about growing up in State College, Pennsylvania, being the youngest of 6 children, her mother being a basketball coach, and how she got into the sport. She details her great basketball and volleyball career at State College High School, what it was like playing for both of her parents, the recruiting process, why she chose UConn, and what it was like playing for Head Coach Geno Auriemma. Kyla describes what it was like to be involved in the HBO documentary during her Freshman season, what it takes to be a great teammate, losing in back-to-back Final Fours at the last seconds, and getting her first start Junior year. She talks about this past season, seeing the most minutes in her career, breaking her elbow in the AAC Tournament, needing immediate surgery and missing the championship game, but her teammates FaceTiming her shortly after the win, and her reaction to COVID-19 cancelling the 2020 NCAA Tournament.
