Maybe you're like me and you're aging gracefully.

In light of the tragic news we received yesterday of the nine people who died in a CA helicopter crash, including basketball legend Koby Bryant (41) and his 13 year old daughter Gigi, I'm sharing this episode about aging gracefully.

In it, I examine the blessing it is to have life, to grow older, andhow I'm determined to make the most of the time I have left while casting off the idea that my best days are behind me.

If you're like me, you might feel that way sometimes. You may feel as though you've fallen behind, that you should have accomplished, achieved or acquired more by this age.

God's timing is not our timing.

Take heart in that. Remember that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. Where we feel we fall short, He fills in the gaps. When we are at our weakest, He's at his strongest, we just have to tap-in.

I also touch on the beauty aspect. As women age, our metabolism slows, our skin isn't as tight, we get wrinkles, our hair thins, and more. But that doesn't have to be the case. I cite many women who are an inspiration to me in the way that they care for themselves and for their temples, and in how they make moves and explore new things.

You know who this reminded me of?
The Proverbs 31 woman, especially the part of the scripture that reminds us that, "Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised." (Proverbs 31:30, emphasis mine) We all know women who are not conventionally beautiful but receive praise because of their character, their hearts and other virtuous attributes.

It also reminded me of Sarah and Elizabeth. Both women painfully struggled with infertility into their old age. What seemed improbable for them, what seemed impossible for their bodies, God made happen in His perfect timing. (Luke 1:57-58 /Genesis 21:1)

The pain of the wait can turn into a powerful testimony for God's glory. Your submission and dependence on Him to deliver in due time can produce a blessing that is way better than what you requested.

I wonder what He has planned for us!

Don't fret about growing old. Don't be discouraged by the delay. Give yourself grace and keep growing. Trust God and have faith in His timing. Use everything He gives you while it is yet day. Because tomorrow is not promised.
