• Today I want to look at Deliverance especially in light of Jesus giving to us his power and Authority over the all the works of the evil one.
The mandate
“And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.”

Piecing the 3 Passages together we get the fulness of the disciples instructions
“And he called to him his twelve disciples Together and gave them power and authority over all demons (unclean spirits) and to cure (or heal) every disease and every affliction. and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal, and as you go proclaim, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand, heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons.
So they departed and went throughout the villages preaching the gospel and proclaimed that people should repent, and healing everywhere they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.”
Looked at healing last time want to look at setting people free from the control of the devil in a persons life, or could be a situation, or even property, Sometimes referred to as having a unclean spirit, or being demon possessed.
2 things that we need to address one positive & one Negative when we are handling deliverance.
• The Authority that’s beed given to us
• Fear of the evil and the evil one, fear of backlash
Clarify a few things, what we are talking about
It comes up about demon possessed?
Can Christians Have demons?
How do we recognise them?
What are Strongholds?
Authority
Jesus said “all Authority has been given to me in Heaven and on Earth”Matt 28 v 18
“Just as the father has sent me so I am sending you” John 20 v 21
• How do you know you have the Authority?
• We don’t really know we have authority until we use it, its not a feeling, I feel I have it nowAuthority is given and received and we can only fully exercise authority when we are under Authority
• We have the Authority because we have the Holy Spirit within us who is the one who enables us to do the works of Jesus
• We have the Authority because we have the word of God the truth by which we are set free
• Jesus said I only do what I see my Father doing, he was under his Fathers Authority
• Jesus Authority was questioned numerous times especially when casting out demons
• Mark 1 in the temple a demon manifests and questions Jesus
• He was accused of being the devil and that’s how he cast out unclean spirits Luke 11:15
• THE AUTHORITY WE HAVE IS THE NAME OF JESUS – when the disciples return its clear even the demons obey us in your name
• Even others who were not of the twelve were using the name of Jesus to do the same.
