Justyn continued our series on Moses, looking specifically at God's presence.
The Hebrew word for presence is Face, which implying a close and personal encounter with the Lord. Face to face is close! Firstly we want him, because He wants us. Activity then comes out from this place.
1. It’s Relationship - From Genesis to Revelation it’s about God wanting relationship and intimacy with us His people. Exodus 19:6 shows God’s plan for us all to have direct access with Him. Exodus 20:18-21 shows how fear stop the people of Israel stepping into the fulfilment of this.
2. It’s Central - Exodus 33:12-17. His presence is a sign of the favour we have. It’s distinctive for the people of God. God is always present, are we present with him?
3. It’s can’t be limited - don’t try to define or recreate what encountering His presence is like. Moses went from a burning bush to an encounter with the glory of God where even he couldn’t enter the tabernacle. Don’t settle, or focus on how God meets with others. We are all unique.
4. It’s for you - in our corporate and individual gatherings the priority is intimacy with Him. We should have expectations of signs and wonders as that is what happens when the King comes. The reality of His kingdom breaks out. We need to first value His presence, not what he will do.
Activity
- Spend time just worshiping and enjoying God. Have no other agenda than enjoying Him, and don’t rush into asking!
Questions
- Do you believe that God is always present and always wanting intimacy with you?
- What stops you being ‘present’ with God in the day to day activities of life?
- Are there any ‘fears’ that stop you from stepping into greater intimacy with the Father?
- The cloud and pillar of fire where symbols of God’s presence and they led God’s people. We have his voice leading and directing us as His sons & daughters. What is he saying to you, dreams being stirred up?
