Description

Phil continued his preach from last week, looking again at walking in God's favour and goodness.

Introduction

Last week looked at Moses being favoured by God
Looked at what attracts Gods Favour - faith, believing in him
Some of the evidences of Gods favour

• God favour would bring them into the fullness of his promise he made to bring them into the promised land flowing with milk and honey
• Produce supernatural increase (Gen 39:21)
• Bring restoration of every thing the enemy has stolen (Exo. 3:21).

Gods Favour means
• You wants you to Stand permanently on favoured ground daily
• He wants you to be established in favour-consciousness that brings intimacy with God and empowers you to win every battle in life.
• The favour of God sets you apart from others,
• Helps develop strength of character, and gives you a confident hope of God's goodness that never disappoints.
• You can Learn how you can take hold of God's irrevocable favour on your life today and see the Lord turn every trial and testing time into a testimony, and
• Favour that causes your troubles to work out for your good!

Gods favour not defined by your circumstances, difficulty does not equal lack of favour

God favour on Moses and his people was

Exodus 34

“And he said, "Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been created in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you. "Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭34:10-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It would not come about without some battles, it would take courage and strength. It would mean sacrifice to do it Gods way but nevertheless It was Gods favour on his people.

The Goodness of God

Sometimes I get the feeling I'm missing something

Exodus 33 - All Gods goodness passed before Moses - God is good all the time it's his nature

When he says all his goodness will pass by, we know it's God himself it's who he is because he also says you cannot see my face and live. So we know it's him, Moses would know it's him.

The goodness of God is one of those things we affirm happily when things are going well, and find rather difficult when they aren’t.

Saying God is good, means he does good things and doesn’t do bad things or mediocre things or things which don’t quite work out.

God is good by definition; anywhere you find goodness you will, by definition, have God, and vice versa. You can’t have God without goodness, and you can’t have goodness without God.

This is the teaching of the whole of Scripture.
Everything God made was very good (Genesis 1:31).
No one is good except God (Mark 10:18).
All things work together for good for those who love God (Romans 8:28).
Those who seek Yahweh lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10). And so on.

God's goodness not defined by your experiences. And should not be measured by our circumstances.

Personal testimony - it took me years to learn God this that I am favoured by God and that he is good and will work all things for good.

For years I heard people say God is good all the time but it did not feel like he was, my experience told me otherwise

Give thanks to the Lord for he us good - before the psalmist recounts what God has done he recognises that God is Good and that his steadfast love endures forever

David knew this to be true even though he had many troubles and threats upon his life he had found his God to be good.
David's experience of God’s goodness from a place of suffering. In psalm 34 verse 19, he makes the announcement, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous.” Even with a good God, who is sovereign over everything and has the power to do whatever he likes, good people still suffer. His punchline, though, comes in the next phrase: “b
