Pastor Micah shared a Christmas Eve message entitled "What's In A Name?" Throughout our Christmas Eve service we focused on the 4 different names that Isaiah prophesied over the coming Messiah in Isaiah 9:6, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. In his message, Pastor Micah focused on how Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor and Mighty God, and what that means for us still today!
You may wonder how Jesus can be considered a wonderful counselor for you today? Because Jesus experienced temptation, grief, rejection, heartache, and many other emotions while He lived on Earth. (Hebrews 4:15) In Matthew 6:25-34 we find Jesus counseling the crowds as He delivers part of His 'Sermon on the Month' messages.
How do we know that Jesus is a mighty God? Simply by looking at how He overcame death and sin forever with His death and resurrection. (Matthew 28:1-10)
Bottom Line: Jesus is both “Mighty God” and “Wonderful Counselor.” He is so strong and powerful, and kind and gentle all at the same time. He has dominion over everything, yet He takes the time to remind us that He is near and wants to be involved in even the smallest details of our lives.
