Peter was passionate. He was a leader. He was certain about what he believed. Jesus warned Peter that in the heat of the moment Peter would turn his back on everything he thought he knew, everything he was passionate about, and all he was willing to lead others to. Like Peter we can fail God even at our seemingly strongest moment of belief, but despite our failure and even bitter betrayal against God we find His hands lifting us up. Pastor Doug encourages through this story that just like He did with Peter, Jesus offers forgiveness and restoration for all the times we have failed, and he still offers us a job: to love others and reach them with the Gospel.
