“When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, ‘My son, your sins are forgiven’ ” (Mark 2:5). Those listening to Jesus were scandalized when they heard Jesus say this. They wondered: “Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (Mark 2:7) The irony of this discussion is that since Jesus is God, He did have the authority to forgive sins.
