The casino was quick to tweet out “Winner, winner. Congrats to one lucky guest.” This was posted on the Cosmopolitan’s Twitter page. The winner chose to remain anonymous after the landing the six-figure grand prize. A picture of the winning machine was posted the following day. This was just one of many big Las Vegas hits in the month of July.


UK Delays Casino Reopening Date for at Least Two More Weeks


Rising rates of positive coronavirus tests has forced UK casinos to remained closed. Set to reopen on Saturday, Aug. 1, the decision for the further delay was made on July 31. British Prime Minster Boris Johnson shelved his country’s plans to reopen England’s casinos. This was in response to fears of a second wave of infections. The daily rate climbed from 3,000 per day on July 14 to a new level of 4,900. This should delay any reopening date at least two weeks from the first of August. The Betting and Gaming Council voiced their concerns with the current situation.

New York Man Charged With Wire Fraud in Crypto Scam

Douglas Jae Woo Kim is facing federal charges of wire fraud. This is tied to a scheme that defrauded investors out of $4.5 billion of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Kim convinced investors he was a crypto trader. Lured by the promise of high returns, he then used the money to gamble online. Two offshore gambling sites mentioned in the report were Nitrogen Sports and Fairlay. The scam involved the transfer of $1.1 million in BTC and $3.5 million in ETH. To date, only one of three investors has been fully reimbursed for their amount lost.

Poker Player Pockets Over $100 Grand in Online WSOP Event

William “SlaweelRyam” Romaine was the big winner in Event #28 as part of an online WSOP tournament. He walked away with the grand prize of $110,673. The original pool of players was 425 with 100 rebuys. This set the total prize money pool for the $1000 Omaha Hi-Lo 6 Max competition at $498,750. In other online poker news, Nick Guagenti earned $305,433. This was for winning Event #29 of the online WSOP event. That poker competition was a $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack Tournament. This was each player’s first gold bracelet win in a WSOP event.
