Hey listeners!
We have a slightly different clip for you today.
As you may know, both Zach and Stephanie’s day jobs are in the events industry. What you may NOT know is that Zach is the regional director for the #WeMakeEvents #RedAlertRESTART movement in Austin. This is a small clip from an upcoming episode where Zach discusses the importance of this campaign.
It is estimated that 96%, or as many as 12 million people in the Live Events Industry are currently unemployed, furloughed, or have lost up to 90% of their income. Once a robust $35 billion industry, the Live Events business was the first to close and will be the last to re-open, sustaining increased financial losses in the tens of billions of dollars. The Red Alert Restart movement is a call to legislation to allow Federal funding to help our industry workers who are suffering during this pandemic, as well as a call to the general public to help do what is needed in order to allow us to get back to work.
On September 1st, over 1,500 venues all across the North America will be lit red to show support of our industry and the workers within it. Show your solidarity by posting with the hashtag #RedAlertRESTART to raise awareness on the importance of the #RestartAct to the people in the live events sector. Economic relief and unemployment assistance are needed for our industry, which has been shuttered since March. Our sector needs help so we can survive this crisis and work together once again to bring you the events you love when it is safe to do so.
