Laurel Sims is the co-founder and CEO of a non profit called Urban Growers Collective. Rooted in growing food, the Urban Growers Collective works to cultivate nourishing environments which support health, economic development, healing and creativity through urban agriculture. The Urban Growers Collective currently has eight urban farms that operate on 11 acres of land, predominantly located on Chicago’s south side.
The organization also focuses on job readiness, training hundreds of teens, difficult to employ adults, and new farmers in the art of growing. Laurell is here to tell us more about the programs offered by The Urban Growers Collective and all the amazing work they are doing on the South Side of Chicago. The heart and mission of this non profit is guided by the incredible compassionate focus of Laurel and her team and with the intention to deliver more GOOD to this world. This organization is doing really inspiring work!
