Gabriel Moreno is the founder of an organization called Game Changers Idaho. Before Game Changers was officially a non profit, it started as a small adaptive flag football program that offered an opportunity for kids with and without disabilities to play together. Since that time Game Changers has grown into offering a variety of sports, reaching more and more kids each season.
Of his program Gabriel says, “ We believe that every child, regardless of ability, should have every opportunity to play sports to their fullest potential. We want to be another source in the community where our participants are able to create friendships, to be included into team sports and to show what they are truly capable of doing. While playing sports we are also teaching kids of all abilities what it truly means to help another. We are able to teach everyone patience, empathy, and how to be leaders on and off the field. The first step is by being a genuine human being.”
Gabriel’s organization stands as a great example to us all of the impact we can make in our own communities and as a reminder of the importance of modeling inclusivity, kindness and empathy for our youth.
