Yes! You are in. Politics, I usually avoid it like the plague...and for good reason. We all can...including myself....get so whipped up. This Play of the Day breaks it down quite simply...at least for all those out there that call themselves "Christians"....

You may not always agree with them. I may not always agree with them. That sound byte is spot on for me. Maybe you still disagree. Let's. break it down a bit more.
For the avid listener of FriDudes, we have tackled this subject multiple times. Politics can get the best of us. It will divide a family and destroy Thanksgiving just like Covid.
On the flip side, I love affirmations. Go back to previous episodes and you'll hear Casey aka Jogging Jesus talk about the importance of the hearts. We need changed hearts to change society, not just laws. Listen to BW, do you even hear him talking politics or systemic racism or victimization? Not once. BW also talks about how Jesus is in the heart changing business. Go back and listen to BW's testimony. From the crack house to His house.
If I was ever to run for office, haha! Ok, don't worry, I don't have plans nor have been called...at least as of 2021. I would take the best of the Democrats and the best of the Republicans and run independent. I'd run on platform of Christ and that we are best to love God and love Others.
My guess is I would get the same reaction as Phil. "You're crazy!" Love God?! Others?! Until enough hearts change, I'm guessing that platform has zero chance. Then again, anything is possible with God. So you and I will stay encouraging and building up others' hearts. Truth, politics will come and go. Heaven is forever and simply strive to be at peace that all is solved there.
I vividly recall Dr Lorrits jokingly pointing out, hey there's the CNN church and there's the Fox News church. Truth, if we really focused on the top two commandments of Loving God and Loving others, we wouldn't have time to be CNN or Fox. We would be center wing. Focused on the hearts and loving on those we agree and disagree.
Ending on a prayer note, Heavenly Father, forgive us when politics becomes our religion. Forgive us when we'd rather destroy a relationship over politics and ideology. Please forgive me if I got anything wrong above. Thank you Jesus for making things clear for those that want to see and hear. Love God, love others. Those are our 1 and 2 mandates. Every other law and concern and correct thing to do hangs on that 1,2. As we meet more with friends and family, Holy Spirit, will you raise us up above the rhetoric of the far left and far right. May we best change and encourage hears with Truth and not yelling and screaming. For that listener, right now, you are putting hard-hearted people on their minds. May they be encouraged, that if you can turn Saul the Hater and Killer into Paul the lover and Christ follower, you can do that with anyone. With you, heart by heart, we can make this country and world a better place until it is our time to leave this broken planet. To be in a world of no more tears, no more hate, no more sickness. Thank you for that promise Jesus, in our name we pray to shine your love and clarity. Amen.
