Welcome to a special edition of FriDudes. Today, just one dude, DJTommyP, getting real and pursuing Truth. Why? Well, I was on the road, CO, UT and AZ this week for work. So I don’t have the luxury of the other dudes to lean on. So, solo special this week.
As I fly and see more people in protective masks more than ever, we are going to tackle coronavirus this week. You can’t avoid it in social media or conversation - it is everywhere! Growing up with the threats of Zika, SARS and other virus, it is hard for this dude not to be a cynic. It doesn’t mean you should take it seriously. In fact, I’m going to implore you to use the opportunity of corona to take your life very seriously.
So if you listened to Dudes long enough, we tackle brutal with truth and logic. We will then back it with scripture out of the Owner’s Manual of Life…aka the Bible. You may not believe in the Bible. You will at least hear how we find answers in the Bible that explain what has happened and what’s going on today. You get to listen, share with a friend and then debate or validate it.
So truth and logic. According to multiple news sources and WHO, current stats say if you were to contract the virus you have a 2% chance of dying. 2%. Ironically, the about the same percentage of those whom suffer from depression and commit suicide On the flip side, according to the National Safety Council, nsc.org. You are 10x more likely or 20% likely to die from cancer. 23% to die from a heart attach. 98% more likely to die from something else. You have a 100% chance of dying from something. Here’s my point. We love to get whipped up in a frenzy. The media knows it and wants your eyeballs and ears. With your eyeballs and ears, they make money. They feed your fears.
Truth. You are going to die. We don’t need the media to know that. You may be destined to get corona. You could slip on the floor. You could get hit by a drunk driver. So are you ready? Not just for corona virus, all of the above.
So what does the Owner’s Manual say? One, the wages of sin is death; Rom 6:23 We are all flawed; Rom 3:23. We are all leaving this broken planet…eventually. Frankly, I’m glad we don’t live on this broken planet forever. Who wants cancer, or corona virus or depression or rape or children dying too early or ____________.
On the flip side, the Manual says we need to make the most of the life we have here. We shouldn’t intentionally cut it short. The trials and tough times build our character and teach us how to love. James 1. We should love God and love Others Matt 22: 36-40.
Despite tough times, the manual tells us 365 times each day not to be afraid. This isn’t it. Your choice. You choose hope in John 3:16 or you choose hopelessness in being your own God or another religion. If you do believe in a heaven, take heart of ____________ , I’m the way, the truth and life, nobody gets to the Father but through me. John 14:6. That is either absolutely true or Jesus was a liar. I’m betting true. Your call.
If true, I’m taking the vaccination of John 3:16 and running with it. I implore you to do the same. 100% chance you will die on this broken planet. 100% grantee you go to a heaven and no more tears, no more_______, Rev 21:4.
How do I know this is true? I’ve read that book backward and forward. Honestly, it would be easier to live life as an atheist. You get to be your own God...
