- Whether you think Adam and Eve is a fairy tale or not, one can still learn from it. One can learn a lot from it. Whether you are married or not, you can learn. Every single relationship on this earth will have conflict...eventually. Either that or you don't invest enough time together. Put two flawed people together and you will have...you guessed it, flawed situations and conflict.
- How about you church going folk? Churches are boats with holes. Full of flawed people including leadership. For a church to survive it must bail out the water that leaks in through those holes. The boat will stay afloat with Jesus' teachings of love, grace, mercy and forgiveness.
- You know what resonates? When we do wrong or in conflict with God, we want to hide. We go distant. I definitely have and can still do that. For some reason we think not going to church or not praying about it will solve it. Hint: God knows EVERYTHING and knows exactly where you are at all times and what you are thinking. So wouldn't we just be better off owning it - of course. If doing the right things was easy, we would all do it and be kumbaya with God.
- So, moving forward. Do you have any grudges? Any ongoing conflicts? Time to step your game up. Be the bigger person, screw pride and your ego. Ha! Much easier said than done. So "Christians", let's review what the Owner's Manual for Life says for you...there is a ton!
- You must forgive in order to be forgiven. Matthew 6:15. New Living Translation ... But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
- How many times do you forgive? 77 x 7 and then keep going. Matthew 18:21 NLT. Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”
- Many of the egos out there say that is weak. According to the ways of the world, it is. We are not supposed to be conformed to the ways of the world of selfishness and screw you. You want to be different? Counter-cultural? Do you want to stand out and truly shine Christ's Light? Then you will do what Jesus did and does. You do what you truly believe. Do you consider yourself part of God's family? A child of God?
- Blessed are the peacemakers. Not the conflict makers. Matthew 5:9. New Living Translation ... God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.
- There's so much more there. Some of you are saying, yeah I know all this. Ok, how are you lovingly encouraging others? Are you digging in with your loved ones or strangers or are you rising above and navigating conflict in a healthy way? Do you realize if we did above we would have world peace? We wouldn't have divorce? So, we have a lot more work to do. You and me. As BW says, train your mind, daily, get in that book first thing in the AM and let it set the tone of each day for you and your loved ones.
