- Word! So, are politics your religion? Here is a quick survey that will help answer that for you. 1. Do you invest more time into the news/politics vs. prayer, reading the Bible, being in community, Christian podcasts or music? 2. When you gather with friends/family are you more apt to talk politics or love on them? 3. On social media, are you more apt to react/read/post political or faith posts? 4. Do you try harder to convince people of political views vs. why you believe Christianity is true and gives you hope?
- BTW, maybe politics are not your religion. How would other things stack up such as Netflix or porn or drinking or _____________?
- Whatever your answer, please know we are in the business to build each other up. This is not meant to be a guilt check. Just a fact check. We are all flawed. We all have room for improvement.
- I love HotRod's take a few episodes ago. Whoever wins the next election. Roughly half of you will be very disappointed or jubilant. If disappointed, that will be your leader for now. Go back to the Deeper episodes and learn how Daniel handles a once terrible leader named King Nebekenezzar. If jubilant, remember politicians love to make promises and most often fail to fulfill them. It doesn't mean you don't vote for who you think can do the best job. Just keep yourself in check that you are voting for a flawed person. No politician will end racism, nor homelessness/poverty. Change will only happen with transformed hearts. What I can guarantee is that they will charge your/our country's credit card which is currently at $27 trillion! That is about $217,000 in debt per tax payer! I've said it before, I'll say it again, either we can pay off that debt or we are one of the world's largest ponzi schemes. Give me a politician (blue, red, purple, green, whatever) who is bold enough to say we need to pay that debt off and spend less. Check out https://www.usdebtclock.org/
- For the avid listeners, you've heard my confessions on the dangers of debt. I'm being held accountable. You and I both need to pay our taxes and balance our budgets. Shouldn't our country do the same?
- So, do you really want to end racism? Solve poverty? Have a better environment? Fiscal responsibility? Human rights? Check out Jesus words. We are commanded to love others...Matt 22: 36-40. We are told to give to the poor...Matt 19:21. We are told to take care of our earth - God's creation..Psalm 65:9. As for debt, we are told to stay away. Those that are in debt are slaves to the lenders...Proverbs 22:7. The movement that many people scoff or hate is actually the solution. Changed hearts that love and serve more will change this world.
