In honor of Black History Month, Lou and I speak to 85 Year Old Mae Shields, a very respected elder in our community. Ms. Mae shares her rich history that is quite inspiring. In her story you will hear how Mae's mother was well ahead of her time in preparing and challenging her children to be the best that they can be. Mae's studied at the University of New Mexico and Columbia University. She marched along side Dr. Martin Luther King and worked with other civil rights greats in New York City. She worked as an hospital Administrator at Columbia University Hospital and had many firsts during her career at Columbia.
