I’ve spoken on the podcast about story-telling and intention setting in teaching yoga, but there’s something else I feel the need to share with you: Trust the yoga. Our words are powerful, yes, but it doesn’t always have to be complex. You can let the physical process speak for itself.
When you experience something through your body, everything changes. It’s a way in to the internal experience—the emotional, spiritual, mental side of yoga. Our movement changes our experience with the world.
So yes, the physical practice may not be at the center of your teaching, but do not leave it behind. The physical practice reminds us that if we can do hard things with our bodies, maybe we can do hard things with the rest of ourselves, too.
