A long time ago, my wife and I used run a Christian youth group. Teenage girls around 15 years of age can be the most cutting of individuals when it comes to responding to a spotty paramour younger than them. I have heard some of these things actually said to younger teenage boys. It’s crushing for the poor fella on the receiving end. In some respects, male and female, we can all sport a ‘better than, holier than, higher than, thou’ mentality in our earlier and less unscarred years.
As we journey through life and the wisdom of age couples with our remembrance, we see that it is we who need forgiveness. Our inability at present to time travel to the past and put things right means that we need someone else to remove the guilt. The Christian Gospel is that Christ, the Lamb of Go,d was nailed to Calvary’s cross for the sins of the world. All the sins of all the world, and that includes the teenage sins of 15-year-old girls as well as sad old tarts in their sixties.
