There comes a time when things need to be handed down. This goes with power and responsibilities as well. We explore the story of Elijah the prophet being told it is his time to pass on. He is going to take a ride on a chariot of fire, and he is to pass the mantle of the prophet of Israel on to Elisha. What a fascinating story this is.
In like manner, Jesus has also ascended up to the Father and is seated at the right hand of God. He has passed his mantle of discipleship down to us as well. We are the ambassadors for Christ in this world. What a great privilege and honor it is that Christ has left us with. We must go into all the world, teach the gospel to every creature, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them after that to observe all things whatsoever Jesus has given us to teach as we follow in His steps.
