Description

In this episode, Wes and Todd are in Rapid City, South Dakota, to talk with artist and sculptor, Peggy Detmers. Detmers talks about how she got her start in sculpture, her precognitive dream that foretold the large commission, “Lakota Bison Jump”, she did for actor Kevin Costner’s Dunbar Resort, a resort that never came to fruition.

Detmers relates how she walked away from a lucrative art career to take on the commission and how in the end the broken promises and contract deemed non-binding by the South Dakota Supreme Court has left her scrambling to recoup the monies owed and salvage her distinguished career in art.

During the conversation we discuss the process of casting bronze, donating art to charities and business.

Join us for a cautionary tale from Peggy Detmers about taking on large commissions, contracts and what artists can do to protect themselves.
