On today's show we talk about all the things that have been engrained into you from a religious system and mindset. All of which are not the New Testament model that Jesus talked to his small group about. You'd be amazed when you actually start reading the bible for yourself what you'd find.
Here's a quick snapshot of what you'll discover if you listen:
- American Church (AC) is focused on "going and doing" but the New Testament Church (NTC) is focused on "being and living".
- The center of the AC's lives is the church building, but the center of the NTC is being one with Jesus and in relationship with each other.
- AC is an organization you belong to but the NTC is a living organism part of the body.
- AC does programs, but the NTC follows Holy Spirit.
- AC has a "come to church" message, but the NTC has a "you are the church" message.
- AC tries to bring people in, but the NTC equips warriors for Christ and sends people out.
- AC creates a following for our churches or ministries, but the NTC creates followers of Jesus that are led by Holy Spirit
- Many of the leaders of AC's see themselves as the man of God in charge with the final say on everything, but NTC leaders work in peer-teams, see the value in each other and use that to better equip believers.
- Many of our AC leaders see themselves as spiritually superior to the less spiritual flock they are leading, but NTC leaders are "among the body", see all believers as equals in Christ and serve the body in the capacity the Lord gave them.
- AC leaders love to "be needed", but NTC leaders love mature followers on the foundation of Jesus.
- Most AC leaders are on-staff and get paid by the church, but NTC leaders worked jobs, shared natural and spiritual responsibilities on a team and understood that all believers are ministers.
- AC leaders gather people around a message, but NTC leaders gather people around the presence of God, with some teaching, praying and breaking of bread.
